Radio Telemetry

15 February 2005

Automatic meter reading using the new miniNet Radio Telemetry system to send signals from flowmeters from one side of the factory to the other has opened up a cost effective way of gathering information of electricity, gas, water and steam consumption.

The new radio transmitters can be battery powered making installation very simple.

The data can be transmitted from a large number of locations to a 'base station' where the pulse counts are output to perhaps an IN4MA-pc. This then allows users to view the information on a computer or even the internet.

The use of automatic meter reading solution such as this not only saves time and money but also allows consumers get vital information on how much product is being used in certain time frames within different areas of the business. Inefficient items of plant can be identified and leaks can be detected early.
