Battery powered wireless telemetry

21 February 2006

The new battery powered wireless telemetry device, the 'Metron' from Powelectrics uses the GSM mobile phone network to communicate tank level readings to the internet. The Metron (by the way metron is greek for measure) has 4 analogue inputs and can therefore monitor 4 tank levels at a time. It periodically wakes up, powers the sensors and takes a reading. These readings are then sent by text message to the Gateway internet server.

Working with the P43 series of low cost short range ultrasonic level sensors the solution becomes very cost effective and opens up a wide range of options for chemical manufacturers and distributors. Coupled with the a very user fiendly user interface the Metron brings remote monitoring into a the modern era and beyond The low hardware cost and low cost of installation is opening up applications that were previously financially hard to justify. Implementing remote tank level monitoring saves money on logistics whilst improving customers confidence, saving order processing errors, reducing panic deliverie etc.. This all adds up to a return on investment in many cases ofless than 12 months!
